👉Norman Hackett👈as the next Senior Spotlight!! Way to represent the pillars of character, Norman!

The Bobcat wrestling team competed at the CHSAA 2A Region 1 AND CHSAA Girls 4A Region 3 wrestling tournaments over the past weekend, and we could not be more proud!

At the end of the day Saturday, the Bobcat boys wrestlers qualified 5 out of 8 regional participants for the state tournament (including two new qualifiers) and the Bobcat ladies qualified 4 out of 7 (with one new qualifier)! With NINE qualifiers, this is the most Ignacio has punched through to the state tournament in over a decade!

On the boys side, finishing as a team in 6th place, the boys qualified Dillon Brann (4th, 1st time qualifier), Josh Kerrigan (2nd, 1st time qualifier), Zane Pontine (2nd), Lincoln deKay (Reg. Champ) and Aven Bourriague (Reg. Champ).

On the girls side, finishing as a team in 5th place, the girls qualified Ireland Cates (4th, 1st time qualifier), Lainee Bradley (2nd), Krysten Neil (Reg. Champ), and Larissa Espinosa (Reg. Champ).

Battling and representing well, but just missing the mark of qualifying, were Emmanuel Lucero (DNP), foreign-exchange student Moise Grognard (DNP), Stephen Romero (DNP), Jada Davis (DNP), foreign-exchange student Eliska Prokopova (5th), and Kodi Rima (5th).

What an honor it is to have been able to help shape, prepare, and drive these kiddos to this point, and I cannot say how PROUD I am of all these regional competitors this weekend!

It is important to note that IHS qualifying NINE athletes for the state tournament is the most in La Plata County and all of the schools in the surrounding areas, and is a testament to our community, of course, our wrestlers, and also to the amazing high school and middle school coaching staff that we have gathered around us here in this community. To Mich Napier, Brad Egger, Jerrid, Brann, JD Brunson, Cody Haga, and Ryan Boyce, thank you for your steadfast commitment to our high school athletes. I am honored and privileged to have you on staff, and our athletes could not be in better hands!

These nine qualifiers/warriors will compete at Ball Arena in Denver starting this coming Thursday through Saturday for state titles! What a great day to be a part of the Bobcat Wrestling Family!
