All the Word

All the Word has prepared the detailed meaning analyses for a Gospel Storybook - a collection of simplified, but accurate stories from the New Testament. The storybook is now ready to be deployed by ATW linguists in languages all over the world. Stephen Beale oversaw translations into Tagalog and Cebuano and is now in the Philippines working with children in slum areas. They are overwhelmed by the gift of these full color books. Please pray that lives are changed as many of them read and understand the Good News for the first time.

TBTA allows for complex words, but expresses them in terms of simpler words. For instance, if a language has a for "helmet," that word will be used when it occurs in the Bible, but if it does not, "hard hat" will be used.

One of the significant capabilities of the TBTA program is to include alternates of various kinds. For instance, we often provide literal and dynamic alternates. We also have alternates for use when a language includes or does not include a complex word like "faith". A simple alternate representing the idea of "faith" would use a concept like "believe" or "trust".

All the Word is making extensive tests of methodology for Bible translation. We find that the TBTA program is especially helpful for complex portions of the Scriptures, especially the epistles and prophets.

I'm sure that you've heard about the "AI revolution." We use AI as an additional resource for our Bible translation process. But our software, The Bible Translators Assistant, has a significant advantage over AI. It is more accurate, because it works through a rules-based system that is deterministic (leads to a predetermined translation), rather than a probabilistic method that can lead to errors called "hallucinations" (made up translation that can be totally wrong).
