Porsche Poised for 24 Hours of Le Mans, But Not with the Prolific 963
Porsche’s presence at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2026 is uniquely focused on the GT ranks. Following a factory withdrawal from the WEC Hypercar class, there will be no official factory-backed 963 entries fighting for the outright win. Instead, the brand’s legacy is stiving to build on its motorsport history with competitive customer “911” teams and anniversary celebrations, particularly with the Manthey team, who are aiming for a historic three-peat in the LMGT3 category at the famed La Sarthe circuit. The team will be sporting silver livery to mark “75 Years of Porsche Motorsport”.

It’s been over a quarter century since the truly revolutionary 996 Turbo was born. This machine literally rewrote the rules of engagement in the sports car community and redefined performance possibilities and capabilities in the production car world. And although this first water cooled Turbo Porsche has been around for a minute, it still delivers staggering performance, especially with some proven engine mods like the IPD Plenum.
Our Plenums are products of efficiency and simply manage air flow in a more superior manner, reducing turbulence, increasing air velocity and improving overall laminar flow into the combustion chambers. Our 68mm Plenum and larger 74mm Plenum develop similar HP and TQ gains, but the 68mm version delivers peak gains lower in the powerband while the 74mm realizes peak gains in the upper RPM band. So, it just depends on your power delivery preferences, extent of your engine mods and your specific performance goals.
We typically recommend our standard 68mm Plenum (that utilizes the OE 68mm TB) for customers without upgraded exhaust systems or re-flashed ECU’s but are looking for some proven and impressive net gains throughout both power curves. Our Competition version requires upgrading to the larger 74mm TB and is better suited for Turbo customers with high-flow exhaust systems, ECU tuning and beyond. Gains are in the range of 30+ WHP and 35+ WTQ for both Plenums.

Our good friends at 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 in Orangeburg, NY continue to crank out some over-the-top Turbo builds. This 992 TTS is getting the royal treatment of upgrades, including an IPD Plenum to help improve intake airflow and deliver not only substantially increased net power and torque gains but also produce a more linear power curve. Demanding Turbo driving enthusiasts who demand more from their machines can easily elevate the already visceral Turbo driving experience to the next level with some proven Bolt-On engine mods.
Congrats and thanks to for sharing another impressive Porsche Turbo project.

Here’s another impressive 991.2 Turbo S featuring some proven engine upgrades, including an IPD Plenum and Turbo Y-Pipe. These simple yet effective mods will literally transform the already visceral Turbo driving experience to the next level. This Turbo laid down some remarkable acceleration numbers with plenty of room for even more performance improvement, especially given the fact that these runs were on 92 octane fuel.
The IPD “Y” designed Plenum replaces the more turbulent factory “T” intake while our Y-Pipe allows great air flow with improved laminar flow into the throttle body, delivering higher velocity intake air flow for substantial net HP and TQ gains across both power curves, with both stock and modified Turbos.
Congrats to Justin and Sam on a great Turbo S with a very sexy stance.

Dusted off the dragy and did a quick pull! For a pump gas tune, 92 octane, on 3/4 tank of gas, full weight on 3 piece BBS wheels (36/38 psi) I’m super impressed! There haven’t been any revisions yet either. 🙏🏽 Sam , can’t wait to turn it up!

The 981 Cayman is one of the greatest mid-engine sports cars of all time, especially considering the bang for the buck factor. But as we all know, more power means more fun. This Cayman S with its 3.4L engine is forced to breathe through a restrictive 74mm throttle body, while its Carrera Non-S Cousin, with the same size 3.4L engine gets to enjoy breathing through a larger, more appropriately sized 82mm TB. Of course, this was all by design to keep the Cayman from encroaching upon that coveted Carrera territory.
While bigger isn’t necessarily better with turbo applications, it is almost always better with naturally aspirated applications, and this 3.4L engine is no exception. That’s why our 981 Comp Plenum requires upgrading to the larger 82mm GT3 TB. This allows for a 22.8% greater cross-sectional area for the engine to inhale that precious oxygen that improves combustion and elevates HP and TQ. Thanks to for representing with the IPD threads!

Just happened to be wearing an IPD T-shirt,
so I figured I’d pretend like I actually know what I’m doing. 😆
And right after the IPD install was finished, the car got sold 🤔
Congrats and hope the next owner enjoys it!

The 996 and 997.1 Carreras just might be the best bang for the buck Porsche on the market today. The timeless 911 lines combined with the classic quintessential naturally aspirated flat 6 makes it an iconic sports car. But these Carreras could definitely use some additional HP and TQ to keep up with their younger and faster siblings.
IPD offers 2 different 996/997 Carrera Plenums. Our Standard version that utilizes the factory 74mm Throttle Body, which is best suited for driving enthusiasts who prefer to keep their exhaust stock and want to save money by retaining their OE TB, while our Competition Plenum requires upgrading the larger 82mm GT3 TB, designed for customers with upgraded (or stock) exhaust systems and are looking for every ounce of power available from their 3.4L, 3.6L or 3.8L engines.
The efficiencies of the IPD Plenum and larger TB deliver impressive NET gains throughout both power curves, especially with this 996 “40 Year Anniversary Edition” that features a much-improved X51 engine. And being naturally aspirated, bigger is almost always better, even down low in the RPM band. Thanks to for sharing this impressive build.

Our good friends at Pacific German in Laguna Hills, California just finished dialing this 992 Turbo S to 10. These Turbos are already capable of physics defying performance levels, but demanding driving enthusiasts who demand more from their machines can easily raise the turbo bar into the stratosphere with some proven engine mods that are guaranteed to elevate the Porsche Turbo driving experience.
Engine upgrades include exhaust, intercoolers, m_engineering_llc ECU tuning, filter and of course an IPD Plenum that substantially improve intake air-flow with both stock and heavily modded Turbos. Congrats and thanks to Pacific German for sharing another impressive Porsche project.

992 Turbo S looking mighty fine paired up with an exhaust, intercoolers, plenum, air filter, and software! We also swapped out interior trims and door handles for the black finished trims from a GT3, and genuine European spec race-tex sunvisors without warning labels!

The new generation of 3.0L turbocharged Carreras are the ideal mod-friendly candidate in the Porsche lineup these days, with plenty of unrealized performance potential waiting to be unleashed with some basic and proven bolt-on upgrades. The beautiful black 991.2 GTS features a variety of great mods, including , , , -engineering, and, of course, an IPD Plenum to deliver improved intake airflow with increased velocity, reduced turbo lag, and net power gains across both HP and TQ bands.

Over 130hp was gained over an OTS tune on this 991.2 Porsche Turbo after we added intercoolers, turbo inlets, plenum and Y pipe, and of course a 100% custom tune by Alex on the dyno 💪🏼

The 991 Turbos are already a masterpiece of German machinery, but the GT2RS elevates the already tremendous Turbo into rarefied air territory that competes with modern hypercars. But of course, there is always room for even greater performance with some proven and reliable engine upgrades, including an IPD Plenum and Turbo Y-Pipe.
The combination of the Plenum and Y-Pipe delivers substantially improved intake airflow into the engine, providing net power gains across both power bands and minimizing turbo lag, allowing quicker access to all that glorious power and torque. Thanks to Sone Syndicate for sharing this incredible GT2RS project!
