John Hughes is running to become the next Mayor of Howell, NJ John Hughes is a lifelong resident of New Jersey and a 7 year resident of Howell Township.
John has lived in many areas of New Jersey and has seen firsthand what irresponsible leadership can do to a municipality like Howell Township. Over the years, John has volunteered for community organizations and held leadership positions in several of the organizations. If elected, he hopes to bring accountability to the leadership of Howell in this very challenging period of attempted overdevelop
ment by warehouses and the underdevelopment of affordable housing to meet the State obligations. He advocates for smart development utilizing existing properties without the need for continued destruction of open space and continued preservation of farmlands.
- First and foremost, John will make the Council accountable to the
residents with the reintroduction of a community Ethics Board, led by
Howell residents, to root out outside influences on our government.
- Find ways to support our local small businesses to strengthen our
local economy.
- Improve services offered so that our property taxes benefit the
residents.
- Hold utility companies like JCP&L, Optimum, and Verizon
accountable to their customers and increase choices for residents.
- Stop the destruction of open spaces for warehouses in non
commercial areas.
