New Archers & Parents:

This week in New Archer Club we will practice scoring. Next week are tryouts for New Archers (it will look like a normal practice+scoring). We need all new archers and parents to view the 3-minute YouTube NASP Scoring Protocol, the bullseye target and score card. Not knowing how to score causes delays in tournaments. Not scoring properly factors into whether an archer is invited to join the team or not. Parents: We always need “Lane Officials” during home tournaments. If you are comfortable scoring (or erasing their mistakes) please volunteer during club practice; We need all hands-on deck. Your future assistance will be required during team tournaments anyhow 😉

Stay tuned!! We have started planning archery club for this year!!! We will have a sign up genius posted here and announcements will go out to each school soon.

Archery club is open to all eligible Howell students. It runs 2 nights a week starting in late September. It goes for about a month and tryouts for respective school competition teams are held at the end of camp but are not required.

You don’t have to attend camp to try out for a team. Just inquire about tryout nights when we get rolling.

The results are in!!

1100 miles away at the NASP Championship in Daytona, Florida, with only 2 Howell archers and 0 Coaches, Noah Heilig and Katia Gonzalez's flights were scheduled back-to-back. When one archer had their flight, the other coached and held spare arrows. In Howell, we look out for each other, one arrow at a time.

Southwest Elementary Katia Gonzalez continued breaking records at the NASP Championship. In Bullseye, despite one arrow missing the target in End 2 (one arrow was found with a bad vane), Katia did not let it affect her and she scored 262 breaking the Elementary Female record by 1 point. Later the same day, Katia shot 269 at 3D, ranked 10 and broke the Elementary Female record by an impressive 9 points!!! Lookout Parker Middle School archers, this Coyote is coming your way.

Howell High School Senior Noah Heilig wrapped up his NASP career with 85 tournaments, a Bullseye personal best of 295, a 3D personal best of 296, and was invited to the NASP Championship 3D Scholarship Shoot Off where he placed 2nd and won a $4000 scholarship. Noah will be attending Hope College in the Fall.

Let’s cheer on our archers competing today at the World Championships! Both qualified for this event by hitting the podium at the National Championship!!!
