Every successful deck project starts with understanding Michigan's unique weather challenges. When dealing with our freeze-thaw cycles, the difference between a deck that lasts 5 years versus 15 often comes down to proper fastening systems and flashing.

Here's what we focus on for long-term durability:
• Pressure-treated posts set below Michigan's 42-inch frost line
• Galvanized fasteners that match joist hanger coatings
• Ledger board flashing that extends behind siding

If you're planning a deck addition, we're happy to discuss materials and installation methods that handle our local conditions.

Time to shuffle things back in your favor and bring your home interior back to life with the help of Kott Carpentry. 🏡🧼✨
