We're bringing back our Salsa Y Michelada Competition! You heard that right! You asked and we're bringing it back and this time we're even throwing chanclas and celebrating your Mom!

We're going to have the best Salsa and Michelada competitors from this side of the Mississippi throwdown, while playing Salsa music provided by Icehouse Radio and for the Mom's a special Mother's Day market from Divinemarkethtx. So throw on your Stacy Adams and prepared to eat salsa, dance salsa, drink Buckle Bunny micheladas until your corazón says "no mas".

Salsa and Michelada competition will be held from 12-3 PM

Between my time of playing kickball in an empty lot, watching Saturday morning cartoons, daydreaming at the sky, and chasing dragonflies at dusk, this is the lady that taught me how to make tamales. This is Emila, my abuela, my ❤️, and the soul of CASA MASA. Born and raised in Texas, March is her birthday month. Though no longer physically here, she is always with me. Te extraño, abuela.

Breakfast of Champions. Doña Emilia, my abuelita, use to tell me that my gramps, Dionicio, would eat two tamales with fried eggs with his cafecito every morning. A few months ago I got some pork belly from my amigo, Ivan, of at a pop-up he was doing in the east end. I prepped and froze some tamales for later. They were delicious along with my cafecito from Simple and delicioso. Stay warm today XOXO ❤️

I use to see these Tecojote shrubs (Mexican Hawthorns) as a kid running around my Dad's nursery. I wish I would have learned more about plants from him, but it was just too @* #* hot outside. I preferred bussing tables with the A/C on at our family's little restaurant...lol. Oh yea...I made some sweet Tamales de Tejocotes con Requesón tonight! They were even better when cooled and reheated on the comal!
