WorldFest Houston
The Houston International Film Festival is a fiercely independent discovery competitive film festival.
Day 5 was all about creativity, connection, and community. 🎬
We began the day with Yin + Soundbath, then dove into conversations about music in film, the future of filmmaking, personal growth, and staying grounded as creatives. Throughout the day, filmmakers, artists, and industry professionals gathered at WorldFest Village to learn, share ideas, and build new relationships.
As evening arrived, audiences filled the theaters for powerful stories from around the world, including The Fire in Our Hearts (Canada), UnMarry (Philippines), The Legend of Juan Jose Mundo (USA), and our Oscar-qualifying short film showcase.
That's one of the things that makes WorldFest special. It's not just what happens on screen—it's the conversations, collaborations, and community that form around it.
For 59 years, WorldFest-Houston has been bringing together storytellers from around the globe, and we're just getting started.
Think your film belongs here? Submissions for the 60th Annual WorldFest-Houston open in August.

We're looking for sponsors. 🎬
Here's what that actually means. Your donation is tax-deductible, and it puts a student filmmaker in the same room as the directors who are actively shaping the future of independent film. For free. Because of you. 🙌
They get to ask real questions. Learn real skills. Go back to their creative spaces and make the stories the world needs to hear.
That's the kind of impact that sticks. 🎥

Some stories are too big for one film. 🎬
After his screening at WorldFest-Houston, director Fernando Vendrell shared something that stopped the room.
His latest film wasn’t adapted from a book. It grew from dreams, years of research, and a deep creative obsession. And even then, some of the most extraordinary stories never made it into the final cut. 🎭
A prison. A barber. A killer. Entire worlds that lived in his imagination but never reached the screen.
This is what happens when filmmakers and audiences come together in the same room. Real conversation. Real inspiration. The stories behind the stories. 🙌
That’s the magic of WorldFest-Houston.
