A “few human remains” of 4-year-old Javeayah Harris were found. Such a heartbreaking story.
During a press conference on
Thursday, 7/9/26, Aiken County
Sheriff Marty Sawyer announced that
investigators have identified Javeayah's few remains through DNA testing.
Sheriff Sawyer said investigators believe extensive and deliberate efforts were made to conceal and destroy evidence following Javeayah’s death.
Allegedly, Javeayah’s parents used corrosive chemicals to accelerate the destruction of her little body before “pouring” of what remained in Cedar Creek Reservoir in Fairfield County, South Carolina.
Authorities are not expected to recover any additional remains.
An emotional Sheriff Sawyer described the investigation as one of the most disturbing cases his office has ever handled. Fighting back tears, he said he would not refer to the suspects as "mother" or "father," or “mom or dad,” stating they no longer deserve that title.
Michilae Herring and Johmarea Harris are being charged with homicide by child abuse and desecration of human remains.
RIP, Baby Girl. 💗
