The Houston Chronicle gave Kin a little nod and we’re smiling about it.
This belongs to everyone who’s pulled up a chair, ordered tea, and told a friend.
Thank you for being part of it. 💛

This week only (Feb 11 - 15): BBQ pork buns.
Soft, warm steamed buns filled with savory-sweet BBQ pork, handmade and served hot.
Come by and try one—we think they’re best enjoyed with a bowl of japchae!

Dear friends — after thoughtful and heartfelt conversation amongst our team this morning, Kin Café will be closed this Friday, Jan 30 in solidarity with the national call for action against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and in remembrance of those harmed in recent events.
Over the past weeks, protests against federal immigration enforcement — including actions in Minnesota following the deaths of community members have grown into a broader movement calling for accountability, peaceful protest, and change.
We feel it’s important not to stay actionless when so many are lifting their voices for human dignity and justice.
If this resonates with you and you choose to step into community action, here are a few peaceful opportunities to gather in our neighborhood:
📍 Thurs, Jan 29 — 6:00 PM: Candlelight vigil for Alex Pretti, hosted by healthcare workers at the corner of Fannin & Cambridge St near Hermann Park / Medical Center. Bring candles, warm clothes, and your presence to honor life and reflect together.
📍 Fri, Jan 30 — 6:00 PM: National day of action in solidarity with “ICE Out” movements calling for peaceful protest and community voices to be heard across the country. No school. No shopping. No work.
📍 Sun, Feb 1 — 3:00 PM: “ICE Hands Off Our Children” community demonstration at Ervan Chew Park (4502 Dunlavy St, 77006) — bring signs, water, warm gear, and support for immigrant families.
If you join any of these gatherings, please prioritize safety and peace — stay with others, follow directions from organizers, and look out for one another.
We’ll be back as usual on Saturday 1/31. Take care of each other. Thank you for understanding and for caring about our community. 💛
