Highway To Freedom

🐾 FOSTERS NEEDED! 🐾
Have you ever thought about fostering but worried you can't commit to a long term placement? You don't have to! At SPCA of Polk County, foster homes are needed for all kinds of animals, and any amount of time you can give is valuable. ❤️
We need fosters for:
🐶 Short term stays
A few days or a weekend can give an animal a much needed break from the shelter, provide enrichment, and let them experience life outside of a kennel.
🏡 Long term shelter animals
Some of our animals have been waiting for their forever homes for weeks, months, or even longer. A foster home can give them a chance to decompress, experience a home environment, and show potential adopters who they really are.
🐱 Nursing moms and babies
Nursing moms need a quiet, comfortable place to raise their babies away from the shelter environment. Foster homes give moms and kittens or puppies the space they need to grow and thrive.
🩺 Medical and recovery fosters
Animals recovering from surgery, illness or treatment often do much better with a calm place to rest and recover.
🐾 Puppies and kittens
Young animals need extra care, socialization and time to grow before they're ready for their forever homes.
💗 Adult and senior animals
A foster home can be especially beneficial for animals who need a quieter environment, extra attention or simply a break from shelter life.
You don't have to foster for months to make a difference. A weekend helps. A week helps. A few weeks helps. And if you can foster longer, that helps too. Every day an animal spends in a foster home is a day they aren't spending in a kennel.
SPCA of Polk County provides the supplies and support you need to foster. 🐾
