Meet Joe Stanley – Choice One Bank

Let’s get to know him a little better:

How did you get started in your career?
I am a career banker, starting as a teller at Mutual Savings Bank in Bay City in 1984. After college, I worked as a Commercial Credit Analyst and Business Banker before switching to mortgage lending in the mid-1990s. Since then, I have been originating mortgages and managing mortgage teams throughout Mid and Southeast Michigan.

What do you love most about helping your clients?
I enjoy helping customers who appreciate my expertise and value my opinion. I work to identify potential issues early, think like an underwriter, and avoid last-minute surprises. I enjoy working with customers who see that advice as a service.

How long have you been part of Women's Council of Realtors (WCR)?
I have been involved in WCR since 2017 and served as Treasurer from 2019–2021.

Do you have a favorite WCR event so far?
The Holiday Party. I enjoy seeing everyone having fun, working the registration table with Lynn Oates, and selling 50/50 tickets with Mark Webberly.

Can you give us a quick snapshot of what you do?
Working at a community bank allows us to help customers with unique credit profiles or properties that may not qualify for traditional financing.

What sets you apart from others in your space?
The ability to be creative and look at an entire loan profile to determine a customer's creditworthiness is what I enjoy most and what sets us apart.

What's something people might be surprised to learn about you?
People may not know that I have had six guns drawn on me in my lifetime. I am happy to tell the stories at the next mixer.

Meet Don Torchia – President - Basement to Roof Home Inspections

Let’s get to know him a little better:

How did you get started in your career?
I have been in the Home Inspection career for 11 Years. I got into the business because I spent 20 Years doing Handyman work, saw 50 on the horizon and realized that I had beat my body up enough, could not do it rest of my life.

What do you love most about helping your clients?
I love helping people avoid buying a House that will be a money pit and frustration. There is a lot to buying a House, we strive to take the fear of the unknown from the process.

How long have you been part of Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR)?
I have been a part of WCR off and on for 8 Years

Do you have a favorite WCR event so far?
My favorite WCR event is the outdoor events, picnics, golf outings, Community updates

Can you give us a quick snapshot of what you do?
Summary of my business, we do pre listing inspections, pre purchase inspections, Radon testing, indoor air quality testing, drone roof inspections, mold testing, water testing.

What sets you apart from others in your space?
In my opinion we are separated from the rest by our service, I answer my phone, not someone in another country or AI, my experience of 32 Years, having a builders license, 1200 5 star reviews, our ability to explain what and why to buyers to give them piece of mind. We understand that both buyers and agents deserve our best service.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
One thing people may not know is I am a serious bass fisherman, have 14 Grandchildren, been married for 31 Years (poor Kathy) I was in the Army.
