Each client's needs and requirements are evaluated and a plan of action is developed. Plans vary from the contractors who already have a supplement department to smaller, start-up contractors.
2. Collection of Documentation
A list of required documents must be provided to support supplement requests. Documents include: contract with insured, damage assessment sheet, photos of damage, insurance estimate, EagleView and project manager's contact information.
3. Claim evaluation or "scrubbing"
Files are meticulously examined to determine if a supplement is justified. Only qualified discrepancies are submitted to avoid insurance fraud. If the claim does not qualify for a supplement it goes back to a 'collection only' status.
4. Supplement request submitted
Once qualified, discrepancies are discovered, a new estimate is created and then submitted to the insurance carrier. Ideally a supplement is approved before the job is built, allowing for reinspection. If the job is completed, photo documentation is necessary to support the supplement.
5. Supplement approval process
Team members negotiate with insurance carriers to get the supplement approved as quickly as possible. Often a release of depreciation and final payment is requested along with the supplement check.
6. Supplement approval notification
Clients are notified that a supplement was approved with the amount and approval date. A complete tracking and documentation history is available using the AccuLynx business management software.
