The Houston Wellness Project
Building a healthy Houston!
It is with a heavy heart, that we have to announce we are closing our doors. The pandemic has been trying for everyone but small non-profit organizations like ours can't hang on much longer. With no sponsorships or donations coming in, our operating expenses can no longer be supported. We have tried to work with the city for the 9 months of permits that were revoked due to the pandemic and they will not refund any of the money nor credit the fees to the future when races are able to resume in Harris County and The City of Houston. Not blaming the city but this has put another financial strain on us that we can't sustain and left us with no options for funding for new permits when they do resume again. But, such is life.
It has been a wonderful ride the past 9 years and we are thankful for every one of you that made this possible. Hopefully, we can re-group and re-organize in the future. Until then, keep running and walking and taking care of your health and wellness! Thank you for everything. - The HWP Team

We know there is a lot going on right now in the world. And to add to it our right hand man at The Houston Wellness Project just lost his brother to COVID-19. Please consider helping out the family as they navigate through this and plan for his funeral. We can't say enough good things about Chris.... this post would break the FB characters limit. Chris started running our free races in 2014 shortly after we started up the Heights/White Oak Bayou location. He was out of the army 75th Ranger Regiment and returning to school on the GI Bill when he found us and started running with us to stay active and healthy. He quickly became one of our race directors taking over the Heights/White Oak Bayou race. He is an uncle who is more like a father to his nieces and nephews and will be more so now with the children that have been left behind from his brother's passing. He is a very active member of our community working to make a difference.
He has always been there for us. This is the least we can do to help support him in this difficult time. Thank you.
