What is Fashion? Trend? Style?

Fashion and trends are often dictated by marketing, money, and what we are told to want next. They move fast, ask us to keep up, and encourage us to spend, often at the expense of both our wallets and our self expression.

There is nothing wrong with playing with trends. Exploration can be fun.
But what should not be normal is chasing a fashionable idea that costs you your sense of self, your joy, or your intuition.

Style is different.
Style is innate.
It is what you love. What feels like home in your body. What brings you joy when no one is watching. Style is not about performing a curated Instagram aesthetic. It is about expressing who you are.

Am I in fashion? In trend?
No.
And I am completely unbothered by it.

I am over here living my best Rivendell inspired style life, grounded, romantic, and timeless, and taking deep joy in dressing for myself.

Are you dressing for you??

✨️ Moving into a new year of Love and Light ✨

2025 asked for so much letting go.
Loss. Grief. Growth.
Layers shed. Roots deepened. Truth clarified.

What remains feels softer and stronger at the same time.
Love that steadies.
Hope that feels earned.
A heart more open because it's found center.

As 2026 unfolds, I’m carrying forward intention, authenticity, and trust in what’s to come.

Wishing you love, light, and abundant blessings in the year ahead 🤍

Inspired by a post by , these are my style icons.

I’ve never fully explored Ellie Jean’s Style Roots, but I love the concept and feel drawn to wander more deeply into my own.

As I look at my own icons, a quiet consistency begins to emerge. Draped, elongated silhouettes. Soft, lustrous materials. Intricate, glamorous details. A sense of slightly untouchable Romanticism expressive, embodied, and intentional.

If I had to guess at my own Style Roots, I’d say 🔥 Fire, ☀️ Sun, and 🍄 Mushroom.

✨️Have you explored the Style Roots system?
✨️How has it shaped the way you dress?
✨️Who are your style icons?

Holiday style is not the time to make yourself smaller.

It’s the season to wear what brings you joy without worrying about being "too much".

Wear the sequin jumpsuit. ✨️
Wear the candy cane earrings. 🍬
Wear the color, the sparkle, the drama, the softness, the thing that makes you smile when you catch your reflection.

Joyful dressing during the holidays is about permission. Permission to be expressive. Permission to be playful. Permission to let your personal style be part of the celebration instead of something you edit down.

When you dress in what delights you, it changes the way you show up. It invites laughter, connection, and presence with the people you love. Joy is contagious, and when others see you enjoying your style, that joy has a way of spreading.

Your holiday outfits don’t need to be subtle.
They need to feel like you.

This season, let joy lead the way.

🎄 What piece in your closet brings you the most holiday joy? 🎄

This week in art inspired outfits.

I went a little farther back in art history and felt inspired by medieval tapestries.

I played a lot with texture and drape this week.
I had some hits and misses but was overall happy.

Which one is your favorite?

Have you ever been told something is not "for" you?

In styling spaces especially, we can get tangled in rules. Colors, shapes, and fabrics get labeled as right or wrong, and anything outside those lines is quickly dismissed as “not for you.”

But style advice should be tools, not strict rules.

If something resonates with you, if it calls quietly or loudly to your heart, then it is for you, whether it fits your rules or not.

Because when something sparks joy, that joy becomes part of what you wear. It shows in your posture, your confidence, the way you move through the world.

This dress is a perfect example. I’ve been told it isn’t for me. The color is wrong. It’s too sweet. Too youthful.

And yet, it makes me happy. And that energy ripples outward.

As you explore your own style, I encourage you to move with curiosity instead of restriction. With wonder and an open mind instead of an iron fist.

There is beauty in exploration. There is magic in discovery.

Not everything will be for you, but when something brings you joy, it most certainly is.
