Last month, and I shared a rich and generative conversation in conjunction with my solo exhibition Temporal Estrangement: A Path to No Place for a private exchange sponsored in part by cities without houses, & . Together, we unpacked the exhibition’s core themes—releasing the Human, J.setting as a site of ecstatic surrender, and the relationship between the Korean Buddhist anthology, self portraiture and the spiritual mechanisms embedded within the work. It was an honor and a joy to hold space with such thoughtful, like-minded people. Thank you to everyone who came with openness, curiosity, and care.

Dear community,

I rarely ask for help, but this situation has deeply impacted my family, especially my mother. She’s battling severe sciatica, spinal stenosis, and three herniated discs, which have left her unable to walk or work. Despite months of physical therapy, injections, and medication, surgery is now her only chance to regain mobility and prevent permanent loss of function.

Unfortunately, she’s exhausted all her financial resources, including her 401K, in trying to manage her condition. This has led to a lapse in her mortgage and the threat of eviction, which has been devastating for my parents as they also care for my younger sister, who is autistic.

The total cost for surgery and rehabilitation is $25,000.

I’m humbly asking for any support you can offer, even $5 helps. If you can’t donate, sharing this message would mean the world to me.

This has been incredibly hard to navigate while preparing for my first solo exhibition, and transitioning into a new job, but I’m holding faith that community and compassion can help us get through this.

It was an honor to be in dialogue with you and the brilliant , whose stunning artwork graces the cover of this issue. I’m beyond ecstatic—pun fully intended—to share this interview, where we explore the expansiveness of our creative practices, the influence of family, and the layered complexities of our identities. It was a privilege to hold this conversation in the intimate sanctuary of my home, where we could reflect, share, and dream together. A special thank you to for your invaluable support in making this happen.

Last October, I had the honor of participating in Jacolby Satterwhite’s A Metta Prayer at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. It was an incredible opportunity to share insights on my practice within the context of this groundbreaking exhibition and Jacolby’s visionary work in the digital space. I’m thrilled to share that my immersive experimental sound and video installation, Great was the Ecstasy, will be featured in the landmark exhibition TRANSCENDENCE: A Century of Black Q***r Ecstasy, 1924–2024. This exhibition, hosted by Art Galleries in Black Spaces at UT Austin is thoughtfully curated by Dr. Phillip A. Townsend, PhD, Curator of Art I’m honored to contribute to such a significant showcase and I thank you Phillip for trusting the process and labor of love my work will add.

My work will be installed in the Idea Lab space from January 24-March 8, 2025 .
