August gives us plenty to celebrate at KDW!
We're wishing a happy birthday to our team members celebrating this month and recognizing those marking another year with KDW. From 1 year to 21 years of service, we're grateful for the people, experience, and dedication behind everything we build.
Happy birthday and congratulations to all!
Data centers are being built across Texas faster than the equipment supply chain can keep up. Giga Energy is one of the companies working to close that gap.
Giga manufactures and distributes electrical transformers and data center equipment, helping data centers monetize flexibility and reduce energy costs. To support that growing demand, they needed more capable manufacturing and distribution space, and they found it in a facility that already existed.
Work is in the final stretch at Giga's 63,000 SF facility in North Houston, where KDW is completing improvements and modifications inside and outside the building. Transformer tanks are staged on the production slab and equipment is moving into place as the facility gets closer to full operation.

Progress is being made at Sika's new roofing production facility in Sealy. The steel is welded out, and the exterior is taking shape fast: metal panels are going up on the 77' tower, PEMB lean-to’s are underway, and roofing kicks off next week.
Inside, crews are running sprinkler pipe and electrical conduit, and the office floor was just finished with QuartzTop dryshake, one of Sika's own products.
Once complete, the plant will produce Sika's full line of Sarnafil® and Sikaplan® thermoplastic roof membranes, expanding their reach across the western and southern U.S.
Three projects with Sika now, and counting.

At LT Foods Americas, construction is underway on a new distribution facility — and before the work began, we gathered on-site for a foundation blessing ceremony.
The group paused to honor the land, seek blessings for the project, pray for the safety of every worker who will build it, and ask for protection from obstacles throughout construction. It's a meaningful tradition that sets the tone for everything that follows.
LT Foods Americas is one of the largest rice distribution companies in the U.S. This facility expands their distribution capacity and strengthens a supply chain that serves communities across the country. We're proud to be their design-build partner from the ground up.

If you've been on a KDW job site anytime in the last twenty years, chances are you know Roy.
Roy grew up in what he calls a truly blue-collar family, where the options were logging, electrical, or construction. He chose construction more than forty years ago and never looked back. He joined KDW as a Superintendent in 2006, and he's been leading our job sites ever since.
His days start at 5:30 AM, walking his team through the agenda, coordinating deliveries, and managing subs. The pace doesn't rattle him. After four decades in the field, he's learned to trust the people around him. "Between our team, we will always come up with the correct answer."
Ask Roy why he's stayed at KDW this long and his answer comes easy: "I have always felt like I am part of the family here, and have always been treated as such."
That family feeling goes both ways. For Roy, going beyond isn't a slogan. Sometimes it means engineering a smarter solution than what's on the drawings. Sometimes it means stopping to check on a guy who looks like he's having a hard day. "It's the little things we do every day that mean going beyond, not just doing the job we're getting paid to do."
When we asked about the biggest lesson his career has taught him, he kept it short: accountability. "You are the person in the mirror."
Companies like ours are built on careers like Roy's. We're grateful to have him as a teammate, a leader, and a mentor to the next generation coming up behind him.

Delivering healthcare infrastructure that grows with the client — that's the goal.
KDW recently completed a design-build outpatient clinic for Northwest Houston Heart Center in Tomball, Texas. The 11,218 SF facility includes 3,830 SF of active clinic space and 7,388 SF of shell space sized and ready for a future surgery center — giving the client a clear path to expand without starting over.
Completed in 10 months and under budget, the project included a full power upgrade with a 500 kW natural gas generator, 600 LF of underground storm detention, and an upgraded public storm drain connection to the regional detention system.
Two site-specific challenges shaped the ex*****on: an occupied facility throughout construction and a location within a residential neighborhood. Both required careful phasing, deliberate site staging, and close coordination with the client from start to finish.
