🌟This Winter Rep has been a hard, fast and BUSY one! From role prep, acting classes, concert performances, recital planning and drinking water; THE GURLS HAVE BEEN OCCUPIED! …but I’m glad to show you the fruits of the labour!
🌟 We in the Butler Studio start Of Mice and Men rehearsals this Monday, I don’t think anything other than our amazing performance at Concert of Arias could’ve prepared us more for being there for each other; to cheer ourselves on in both our strengths and weaknesses!
😘Toi Toi Toi!
✨I just can’t get tired of Verdi! So “prepare tuh be sickuh me!”😂😂
✨ I haven’t had any arias in my package that I felt could stand against the bel canto or big verismo pieces so… this clip of and I performing the “recit” of Gabriele’s “rage/broken heart” aria from Simon Boccanegra is my attempt to answer that challenge hahaha. I said “my last season here I’m gone be leaving with some bangers!!”
✨ Is this a banger y’all? What’s it giving?? Should I post the Cavatina???

A momentous night in Houston, where tenor Demetrious Sampson Jr., makes an exciting debut as Sportin' Life in Porgy and Bess. Directed by Francesca Zambello, this nine-performance run returns a classic to the Houston Grand Opera stage.
😅NOOO THE WHOLE THING DIDN’T POST!!
✨Well… here is the rest of the aria! I edited some parts out because it’s just long! And this is just an inside scoop, this IS NOT performance ready yet, I have a lot to work on in the language, phrasing and technique but I’m not sacred show what we are doing!!! Y’all will hear the rest of it at like Operalia or something hehehe.
✨ Any, we start Porgy Tech Rehearsals today! I hope y’all come see the show! We have shows running from Oct. 24- Nov. 15!

🎂Happy Birthday to one of my favorite teachers… Giuseppe Verdi!!!
✨This is just a look into a coaching with on Gabriele’s “anger turn resolve” aria from my fave Verdi opera Simon Boccanegra!
✨I’ve been wanting to sing this aria since I first heard it 3 years ago and I’ve been waiting until now to work on it hehehe. It’s just for my comp package though lol. Done get any ideas… I’m not rushing anything… this role is still years in the future but I’m glad to show you all what I’ve been working on for the last 2.5 weeks lol.
✨I don’t know why I ever thought that I wouldn’t like his work! However, since starting my journey here I have found that he is, in some ways the second best teacher I could have asked for (second to Dr. King so far heheheh).
✨Learning early to mid era Verdi has truly made me pay attention to the parts of my voice and technique that need finesse and work! This quintessential Italian style has been like medicine to me!
Ciao, 😘
