Yes, professional air hockey is a thing - and like any great village, it runs on more than just goals and glory. Case in point: pucks.

Did you know it takes 30-60 full games to break in a brand-new puck? Until then, they’re like stubborn teenagers: unpredictable, moody, and refusing to cooperate. But once they’ve lived their full life, they graduate to “master puck” status. At that point, they get retired, celebrated, and signed by the year’s Top 10 players like little plastic legends.

This year alone, 2025, we welcomed 3 new masters to the hall of fame. I still keep my very first one - a reminder that I don’t just love this game when I win, but also in every loss, every dent, every goofy bounce along the way.

Because in the end, air hockey is about growth. The pucks may break, but the love of the game never does. ❤️‍🩹

Essential Ingredients:
• 6 large eggs
• 1/2 cup soy sauce (regular or low sodium)
• 1/2 cup water (to dilute marinade a bit)
• 1/4 cup mirin (sweet rice wine)
• 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, but adds balance)
• 1 clove garlic (smashed) – optional, for added flavor
• 1 slice of ginger or green onion – optional, aromatic boost

Quick Steps:
1. Soft-boil the eggs (typically 6–7 minutes), then cool in ice water and peel.
2. Mix soy sauce, water, mirin, and sugar in a container or ziplock bag.
3. Add optional garlic/ginger.
4. Submerge peeled eggs in marinade for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight in the fridge.
