Iconium Builders is a General Contractor, and as such, we need to hire Subcontractors for specialty work, like removing fallen trees from our customers' properties.
Sometimes even we have to deal with tree guys who are dishing out ridiculously high quotes for tree removal, as high as $4,500 to $6,000 for 1 tree.
When we build new buildings, homes, or additions, we often have to hire a tree company to clear some trees... and it would cost us half of what these tree companies are charging now, after Beryl.
After sorting through quite a few tree trimmers, we have a very capable crew that can take care of your needs.
Give us a call and we'll provide you with a very fair price.

Roof Venting Issues
Before you do any work on the building envelope (Roofing, Siding, Soffit, Fascia, and even Painting), keep in mind that the entire structure is a System in which different components must work together with the other parts of the house.
It is important that the Contractor you hire understands this.

This is a Follow-up video of a previous video which highlighted structural failures we discovered in an attic in the Ashford West Subdivision of Houston, TX.
In this video, we highlight additional failures in the back (bedroom) section of that house, then go into the structural repairs we completed to solve the problem.
This is the 2nd house in the Ashford West Subdivision in Houston, TX, which was built in 1970. While we were reinsulating the attic, we discovered at least 5 split rafters and a 2x6 Collar Beam secured with a single nail.
It appears the combination of several factors may have contributed to these failures.
Low Pitch (4:12) Roof;
Poorly framed from the begining;
Low grade lumber (multiple large knots);.. and Re-Roofing:The house was re-roofed over 10 years ago with 35 year heavy asphalt shingles over a plywood deck. The extra weight of the plywood & shingles, plus the additional live load of roofers walking on top while installing the new roof, added too much load causing the rafters to split.
Noteworthy was that 4 of the 5 rafters that split were directly connected or adjacent to the "suspended" collar beam secured with that single nail. Essentially, that collar beam was adding additional bearing weight to the roof rafters, with no support post.
