Pure Justice kicked off the month of June in Philadelphia at the Netroots Nation 2026 Conference, and Texas was definitely in the building!

It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces, make new connections, and even cultivate a few new friendships along the way.

Professional development isn’t just about the work, classes, or panels. It’s also about unplugging, being present, and creating meaningful moments that leave a lasting impact on how we continue to show up for and serve others. These are the experiences that stay with us long after the conference ends.

Last week, our Co-Founder and Organizing Director, RoShawn Evans, attended the Bridging the Gap: Amplifying Incarcerated Voices conference in Chicago. He gained valuable insights on how journalism, storytelling, and the arts can be powerful tools for transforming both the prison system and our communities.

Long after incarceration ends, justice-impacted families continue to face barriers to employment, housing, and economic stability. Research shows that people who have experienced imprisonment may earn as little as 48 cents for every dollar earned by those without criminal-legal system involvement.

That’s why we’re raising $15,000 to support the Caste Out Resource Fair on July 25, 2026.

Last Tuesday, Pure Justice was honored to participate in the Third Ward Community Public Safety Discussion, joining residents, community leaders, advocates, and public safety partners in a meaningful dialogue about the future of our communities.
