Last Thursday, July 30th, our Port Houston team gathered at Whittier Elementary for a campus beautification day.
Volunteers spent the morning building an outdoor classroom, filling garden beds with fresh soil and plants, and painting outdoor areas around the school.
Whittier Beautification Day:
- This project was identified through our partnership with HISD's The Houston Promise program.
- 320 students will have access to this new outdoor classroom and enhanced green space
- Port Houston gave the school over 100,000 seeds of native Texas flowers, herbs and vegetables
We appreciate every opportunity to give back to the Houston community and improve the spaces where local students learn.
This project is one of many that Port Houston is leading through our participation in HISD’s Houston Promise Program.
The world soccer matches may have ended in Houston, but the competitive spirit at Port Houston is still going strong.
Our Infrastructure and Strategic Sourcing departments went head-to-head in a friendly race for the Pasadena ISD Office Supply Drive.
The final tally:
- Strategic Sourcing: 1,689 items collected
- Infrastructure: 890 items collected
Combined, our team gathered thousands of essential supplies to help local students and teachers start the school year off right. On August 7, these donations head over to Phillips Gymnasium to be distributed to Pasadena ISD teachers.
Huge thanks to everyone who donated. On to the next community event!
