Inventor Spotlight: Mary Anderson 🚗
In 1903, Mary Anderson patented a device that allowed drivers to clear rain, snow, and sleet from their windshields without getting out of the car.
Her idea was simple, but incredibly useful. She noticed a problem, thought of a solution, and turned that solution into an invention.
And while windshield wipers may seem ordinary today, her invention became an essential part of every modern car.
💡 STEAM lesson: Innovation doesn’t always begin with a complicated idea. Sometimes, it starts by noticing an everyday problem and asking, “How can I make this better?”

Before Minecraft, Mario, and Fortnite, there was… Tennis for Two! 🕹️
Created in 1958 by physicist William Higinbotham, Tennis for Two is widely recognized as one of the earliest video games ever created. It was built on an oscilloscope and displayed a simple tennis match — decades before video games became part of everyday life! 🤯
From those first pixels to today’s immersive worlds, video games have come a long way — combining technology, creativity, design, storytelling, and problem-solving. 💡🎮
If your kids could create their own video game, what would it be? 👾
