Viewed as a high end option, a stone look is much more affordable these days with manufactured stone products cutting the high end cost. The addition of stone will bring a touch of sophistication to any home or building whether it’s combined with stucco or another exterior of your choice. There are many types of stone to choose from and the combinations are endless!

An inside look

Exterior Insulation Finish System is a traditional stucco alternative that offers another set of benefits such as lightweight and insulation value. It offers a wide array of architectural details and shapes that can be made both economically and lightweight.

STUCCO is a popular choice for exterior finishes for new or renovated construction projects. Besides being attractive it is a durable choice for outside applications.

Traditional stucco, also known as hard coat stucco, is a centuries-old wall cladding system that is made from a mixture of Portland cement, lime, sand and water. Acrylics and fibers are added to add strength and help prevent cracks. Traditional stucco will consist of three layers:

1. The inner layer known as the scratch coat.

2. The middle layer known as the brown coat, which after being applied is leveled into a smooth surface. Wire mesh is added to reinforce the stucco. The brown coat is then allowed to cure for at least several days. During this stage if the weather is very hot and dry, water will be sprayed onto the stucco to add moisture and ensure the stucco completely cures.

3.The exterior layer called the finish coat.

Water proofing (Air and Moisture Barrier Systems)

This system protects the wall from moisture intrusion minimizing risk of water damage and associated repair costs. Also minimizes airflow through the wall construction reducing risk of condensation caused by air leaks.
