Ever wonder what happens inside a transformer shop? Take a look at our Bakersfield facility and see why customers trust us with their transformer repair needs.

Transformer lead times haven't gotten much shorter, and that's part of why this shop stays busy. Bakersfield focuses on transformer shop repair, consignment transformers, and bushings. Keeping customers running when new equipment isn't an option or the schedule can't wait. When a replacement is months out from the OEM and a facility needs power now, having that stock on hand makes all the difference.

Large Power Transformers (LPTs) demand more than specialized testing, they demand specialized expertise.

345kV generator step-up transformers and 765kV transmission assets are critical pieces of infrastructure that represent some of the largest and most valuable investments on the power grid. Servicing them requires experienced personnel, specialized equipment, and a proven commitment to quality.

RESA Power is one of the few service providers equipped to support large power transformers throughout their entire lifecycle, not just one phase of the project. Our teams across North America specialize in servicing higher BIL levels and voltage classes such as 230, 345, 550, and 765 kV. Our team delivers comprehensive throughout the transformer lifecycle, including installation, assembly, vacuum oil filling, commissioning, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, relocations, engineering upgrades, OEM-authorized warranty support, spare parts, failure analysis, and eventual decommissioning

When reliability matters and the cost of failure can be significant; utilities, industrial facilities, and data centers trust RESA Power to keep their transformer assets operating safely and efficiently for decades.

One partner. Every stage. Every transformer.

Project Spotlight: Solar Commissioning Support in Ohio

During the final stages of construction at a solar project in Ohio, our team provided commissioning and corrective work support to help prepare the facility for safe, reliable operation.

The project involved approximately 700 tracked commissioning items, including the investigation and resolution of nearly 200 abnormal SPC items. The team also addressed around 400 observations identified through aerial flyovers.

Technicians conducted detailed field assessments, took measurements, and documented damaged tracker components, displaced modules, and other conditions requiring attention before startup. Based on their findings, the team completed corrective work on the affected tracker assemblies and modules, verified the repairs, and closed out the remaining commissioning items.

By identifying and addressing these conditions before the facility entered commercial operation, our team helped improve long-term system reliability, reduce the risk of unplanned downtime, and maximize asset availability once the facility enters operation.

Our team recently supported warranty repair work for a utility-scale solar project in California.

The before images show damaged tracker equipment during the initial field assessment. At this stage, our team inspected the equipment, evaluated the condition of the tracker, identified the repair needs, and determined a safe, practical approach to restore the area. The work included equipment inspections, mechanical repairs, site restoration, and documentation of the repairs from start to finish.

The after image shows the completed repair after the tracker was restored and returned to service.

Projects like this show the importance of responsive field support for renewable energy sites. When warranty-related issues or damaged equipment come up, our team can help assess the problem, complete the necessary repairs, restore the site, and support the work needed to keep large-scale projects moving forward.

For EPC warranty and remediation support, contact our team at [email protected].

Our Denver team recently attended the Blazer Electric Steak Fry & Tradeshow in Colorado Springs. The local event brought attendees together for a day of conversation, networking, and good food. We also had the opportunity to display and discuss some of the testing and transformer maintenance equipment used by our teams.

One of our featured displays was an AC-PRO-II secondary injection test set, which allows technicians to simulate current signals and verify that a circuit breaker’s electronic trip unit is operating correctly. The test set can confirm protective functions, pickup settings, and trip timing without applying high primary current through the breaker. AC-PRO retrofit solutions can also upgrade older breakers with modern electronic trip units, and RESA Power provides both the equipment and installation.

We also highlighted Sample Guard, a transformer safety and accessibility solution that extends oil sampling and nitrogen service connections to an accessible external enclosure. This allows technicians to safely collect oil samples and service the nitrogen blanket without opening the energized transformer cabinet, helping reduce safety risks and avoid unnecessary outages while keeping critical equipment in service.

The equipment on display gave attendees a closer look at some of the tools and solutions RESA Power uses to support preventive maintenance, electrical reliability, and technician safety in the field.

Thank you to Blazer Electric Supply for hosting and to everyone who stopped by to connect with the RESA Power team!
