This weekend we celebrated our final Bar Mitzvah of the 2025–2026 school year! Mazel tov to every Bar and Bat Mitzvah from this past year! πŸŽ‰ Watching each of you step up to the bimah β€” after all the hard work and dedication it took to get there β€” and make your families, your tutors, your clergy, and your whole CBY family so proud.
Every single one of you was remarkable. We can't wait to watch what comes next.

How do lies about Israel become "truth"? They get repeated β€” until silence starts to feel easier than speaking up.
In this clip, Rabbi Strauss asks the question we all need to sit with: What do we choose?

It's Museum Monday!

A rabbi sits absorbed in study, his elegant streimel β€” the fur hat worn by prosperous Eastern European Jews β€” framing a face lost in thought. The tallit draped over his shoulders completes a portrait of quiet devotion.

Lazar Krestin was born in Kovno in 1868 and had a gift for capturing intimate moments of Jewish life with warmth and dignity.

The date of this oil painting is unknown. Krestin disappeared shortly after the N***s occupied Poland in 1938 β€” presumed murdered. His legacy lives on not only in works like this one, but through his student Moshe Mokady, who went on to found the artist colony at Ein-Hod in Israel.

What a morning at The Gathering Place! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Last week we celebrated with a patriotic theme β€” chair exercises, arts & crafts, entertainment by the wonderful Julia Laskowski, BINGO, and a delicious kosher lunch. But as always, it was the smiles, the music, and the connections that made it truly special.

The Gathering Place meets monthly at CBY, offering a warm and welcoming environment for individuals experiencing memory loss due to Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke, or other forms of dementia β€” free of charge, every time.
Our next gathering is Thursday, June 25th. Participation requires registration with Care Partners Texas β€” click here to get started and we hope to see you there! πŸ’™β€οΈξ–ξ€»ξƒξƒ»ξƒΉξƒŽ

Choose Life. Don't Hide. Be Proudly Jewish.

The times we are living in are not easy β€” but Rabbi Strauss reminds us that Moses had an answer for moments like these: V'charta BaChayim. Choose Life.

Choosing life doesn't mean ignoring the difficulty. It means showing up anyway. Wearing your Star of David. Putting a mezuzah on your door. Coming to synagogue. Living your Jewish values openly and proudly.

This week, choose life.

The CBY family came together yesterday for our Annual Meeting β€” and what a celebration it was! πŸŽ‰ We recognized trustees joining, continuing, and completing their service on our Board of Directors.

Congratulations to Steve Finkelman as this year's Steve Rudoff Minyannaire of the Year πŸ†, and a heartfelt thank you to Rabbi Danny Horwitz for his years of dedicated service as our Torah reader. Rabbi Horwitz isn't going anywhere β€” he'll continue teaching and staying active with our Chapel minyan. We are so grateful for all he does for CBY. πŸ™
So proud of this community. Here's to a wonderful year ahead! πŸ’™
