Happy feast day, St. Andrew Bobola!

St. Andrew Bobola (1591–1657) was a Polish Jesuit priest and missionary who lived during a time of deep religious and political tension in Eastern Europe. Traveling throughout the lands of the Polish‑Lithuanian Commonwealth, he worked tirelessly to reconcile divided communities, despite growing danger.

His unwavering conviction ultimately led to his martyrdom, and in 1938 he was canonized as a saint. Today, St. Andrew Bobola is honored as one of Poland’s patron saints, remembered especially as a symbol of courage, perseverance, and faith under pressure.

Big choices. Strong beliefs. And the angles they create.

In Poland, May doesn't just bloom. It prays. 🌸

Alongside spring walks and longer evenings, May is marked by "nabożeństwa majowe," or May devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary. These prayers take place throughout the month in churches, at roadside shrines called "kapliczki," and wherever people choose to pause together, often bringing flowers and singing familiar hymns.

It's simple, communal, and still very much part of everyday life.

And yes, somewhere a babcia is still reminding everyone that the flowers should be fresh. 💐

On May 5, 1991, Pope John Paul II returned to Poland for one of his most significant post-communist visits. It was his seventh pilgrimage to his homeland and came just over two years after the fall of communism in Poland.
Millions of Poles gathered to welcome him, seeing his visit as a symbol of hope, faith, and national renewal. His messages focused on freedom, moral responsibility, and rebuilding the nation’s spiritual foundation during a time of major political and social change.
As Poland entered a new democratic era, his presence reminded the country of its resilience and strengthened the deep bond between the Polish people and their beloved Pope.

🌸 Witaj, maju! (Hello, May!) 🌸

In Polish culture, May is a month of renewal, flowers, and togetherness. It’s traditionally a time for Majówka—evening gatherings, spring walks, and moments of reflection as nature fully wakes up.

With lilacs in bloom, longer evenings, and more time spent with family and friends, May invites us to slow down and appreciate the beauty around us.

How do you like to welcome the month of May? 🌿💐

✨❤️🤍 April 23 marks the feast day of St. Wojciech (St. Adalbert), one of Poland’s beloved patron saints and a powerful figure in Polish history.

St. Wojciech was a 10th‑century bishop who repeatedly walked away from comfort and status. Rather than remain safely in a bishop’s seat, he chose missionary work among peoples who did not share his language, customs, or beliefs.

In 997, while preaching in the Baltic region, he was killed for refusing to abandon his mission. His death made him a martyr, but his legacy lived on in Poland. Duke Bolesław the Brave brought his remains to Gniezno, turning it into one of Poland’s first major religious centers and helping establish the country’s place in Christian Europe.

St. Wojciech is remembered not for playing it safe, but for shaping Poland’s spiritual identity at a moment when the nation itself was still taking shape.

Happy (belated) Feast Day to St. Stanislaus!

St. Stanislaus of Szczepanów is one of Poland’s most beloved saints and a patron of the nation. A bishop of Kraków in the 11th century, he is remembered for his deep faith, moral courage, and willingness to speak out for what was right, even when it came at great personal cost.

His life and martyrdom made him a lasting symbol of conscience, integrity, and the belief that faith should guide both personal and public life. For generations of Poles, St. Stanislaus has represented the strength to stand firm, remain faithful, and put God first.

Remembered with pride and devotion every April 11. ❤️🤍
