One of the best ways to experience Japan isn't found on a reservation list-it's wandering through the street markets.
From fresh takoyaki to sizzling skewers, the food culture here is incredible. Every corner offers something unexpected, and navigating these markets is always one of my favorite recommendations when planning an itinerary.
Which one of these would you try first?

A great trip starts long before you pack a suitcase.
Today I spent the afternoon with The Muse & Cameo Collection, meeting travel partners from Portugal, Greece, Morocco, Japan, Italy, and France.
Part of my job is building relationships with the people who know these destinations best. It’s also staying current on the hotels and experiences I can recommend with confidence. Those conversations help me find the right fit for each client and add the thoughtful details that make a trip feel personal.

That photo was taken over 30 years ago, when I was working at a travel agency in the tunnels beneath downtown Houston.
A lot has changed since then, but the details that shape a great trip still matter: the right hotel, enough time between flights, and the experiences you’d be disappointed to miss.
Those are three things I’ve learned never to leave to chance.
Which one have you learned the hard way?

Thanksgiving break may be one of the most overlooked times to travel internationally.
Because Thanksgiving is an American holiday, much of the world carries on as usual, often with better availability and fewer visitors than you’ll find during Christmas break.
In Europe, many cities are already decorated and select Christmas markets have opened, giving you a taste of the holiday magic before the December rush.
Would you trade the turkey for a passport stamp?

The best luxury fall getaways combine crisp mornings, beautiful scenery and a hotel that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile.
From the mountains of Montana to the countryside of Vermont, these seven properties are especially beautiful during the fall:
Blackberry Farm | Tennessee
Mayflower Inn & Spa | Connecticut
Wildflower Farms | Hudson Valley, New York
Sage Lodge | Montana
Twin Farms | Vermont
High Hampton | North Carolina
Primland | Virginia
These sought-after properties often book well in advance for peak foliage season, but last-minute openings and midweek availability can still appear. I can check availability for this fall or help you begin planning ahead for next year.
Save this list for inspiration, or contact me when you’re ready to create a fall escape designed around you.

Germany’s Christmas markets are calling, and I’m heading there this December to experience the magic for myself.
Munich makes a wonderful home base, with two memorable day trips within easy reach. Visit Nuremberg for one of Germany’s most famous and traditional Christmas markets, then cross into Austria for Salzburg’s romantic markets set among its historic squares.
Three beautiful cities, three completely different Christmas market experiences, and only one hotel to unpack in.
Would a European Christmas market trip be on your wish list?

One resort I recommend to families again and again.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico.
There’s a reason this one stays on my list. It combines a beautiful resort experience with incredible dining and access to the Xcaret parks and experiences.
For families who want more than just a beach vacation, it’s one I come back to again and again when planning Mexico.
There are some resorts that just make sense for the right family.
This is one of them.

You can’t go to London and not have fish & chips.
I don’t make the rules.
Mine were at The Lamb & Flag, one of those classic London pubs that just feels like part of the experience.
Because sometimes the best travel memories are also the simplest ones.
Fish & chips in a London pub? Always.

Labor Day may be the unofficial end of summer, but I’m never quite ready to say goodbye to summer travel.
Some of my favorite memories are made on trips like this one.
And while one season is ending, there’s always another trip to look forward to.
Fall weekends. Holiday escapes. Winter beaches. Spring in Europe.

Can we talk about fall in Europe?
The summer crowds begin to thin, the temperatures cool down, and suddenly lingering over lunch or wandering through a city with nowhere to be feels even better.
Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, I love them all this time of year.
If Europe has been calling, fall might just be my favorite time to answer.
