This storm is extremely dangerous because of the amount of lightning and the amount of rain it is dropping. Please stay indoors and off the roads.
These storms are no joke! They are not technically severe storms but they are dropping some dangerously heavy rain and bringing a lot of lightning. Isolated street flooding will be possible in areas that have seen this heavy rain. If you can, wait until the rain moves out of your way before getting out and driving.

⚠️HEAVY RAIN SETTING UP THIS WEEK:
•Tropical Moisture could lead to some flooding.
______
Starting today, more isolated thunderstorms could develop in our unstable atmosphere over southeast Texas. Today, heavier cells will be capable of producing anywhere from 1-3” of rain per hour or two, and active lightning. The storms today will also be stronger than yesterday’s due to increased instability. Brief heavy downdraft winds are more likely.
This upcoming week: We’ll see an even greater surge of moisture along the lower Texas Gulf Coast from Houston down to Corpus. As this weak tropical wave moves in, heavier downpours and thunderstorms will become more common. The heaviest days still appear to be Wednesday and Thursday. If trends hold, minor street flooding or even flash flooding can’t be ruled out.
We need the rain! Just not all at once.
I’m still pinging 3-5” overall, and isolated spots slightly higher.
This week, we’ll want to watch the storms closely, as some could move fairly slowly and even stall mid-week. More updates to come as always!
Spread the word and Happy Father’s Day!
