February 17 1945 former Japanese Passenger Ship, converted to hospital ship for the war, was attempting to leave Singapore harbor when its aft struck a magnetic mine on the harbor waters. She was towed back to the port and repaired. This 1/700 scale scene represents her return to port. The ship is the Hasegawa 1/700 kit, with parts from 2 of the ship kits. There are also 3 1/700 Waterline Series tugs doing the grunt work as well as two small motorboats transversing the aluminum foil waters of the harbor.

So I took a break from the Titanic to work on a special project for a special someone. This is the Tamiya 1/25 Fiat Abarth. The little guy on the roof is our dearly departed Rascal!

Thank you all so much for the birthday love and prayers while we battle this thing called cancer. Screenings saves lives! It saved mine, twice!

So those of you that know me know that I don’t post much on here. However my current situation should be shared because it could save your life. I am 50 years old. Back in the early spring I decided that I needed to have my routine screenings done. You know, colon, prostate & cardiac work up, etc. so I scheduled the appointments. First was the prostate workup, March 11th. My cardiac workup was May 31 and my colonoscopy was scheduled for mid August. My prostate digital exam was normal, however my PSA was elevated. The doc had me abstain from a few things and drew the labs again. It was even more abnormal. She wanted to do an MRI just to be safe. Turns out that my RADS score was a 5. This means that cancer in the prostate is “highly likely!” But that wasn’t the only thing that the MRI revealed. I also showed 3 abnormal lesions in my colon as well as a suspicious spot on my left hip! When I had an appointment with my P*P she reached out to the GI doc who had my colonoscopy scheduled and moved it to the following week. Several months sooner. As I am leaving the hospital after my procedure, my GI doc calls me to let me know that she removed 3 polyps, including a pedunculated polyp that was 50mm (almost 2 inches) long! She says when they get that size that they are almost always cancer. So my thoughts were great. I am full of cancer! Fortunately the histology results on the polyp was abnormal pre-cancerous cells. So I dodged a bullet when it came to my colon, however the prostate was another story. Turns out after my biopsy, which was the day after my cardiac workup (normal stress test and echocardiogram) would reveal a semi aggressive form of cancer in my prostate. My Gleason score is a 3+4 7 score. Turns out that the prostate has to go. So next Thursday, August 15th I will be going under the knife to have my prostate removed! I am extremely fortunate that I should not require chemotherapy or radiation. Am I worried? A bit? Am I thankful? Exceedingly! This could have been much worse in both treatment and prognosis! All of this rambling to say that if you are of the age or have risk factors for things like this, please get your proventative screenings! Having got mine saved my life. I was very close to having to be treated for 2 different types of cancer. Please, I implore you. Screenings save lives! They saved mine. Thank you!

The Titanic kit’s hull bottom is completely devoid of detail. Woody’s Model Works (now Meritime Models) lower hull plating to the rescue.
