I’m honored to be leading the American Gothic Performing Arts Festival Orchestra on June 13th in Ottumwa, Iowa! The program has been beautifully curated by the festival’s founder, Dennis Willhoit. “To Be Heard: Of Many, One Song” celebrates American voices. The 53-piece orchestra will be performing Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, William Grant Still’s Symphony No. 1 Movements III & IV, Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Joseph Schwantner’s New Morning for the World (Daybreak of Freedom) (with narrator), and Bernstein’s Make Our Garden Grow. HWCO’s performance is at 6pm, but come early to hear other fabulous groups!
