Talons Garage
Not just an off-road skid plate, not just a catalytic converter protection plate, but BOTH! Greetings from Talons Garage! Gotta Diversify!
My name is Shaun and my wife’s name is Crystal. We are a husband-and-wife team that started this adventure about a year ago in our three-car garage. I want to take a quick minute to talk about us, and who we are:
Since I was a kid, I have always been fascinated by anything with wheels, rather it be on road, or off road. I have always loved to tinker and build things. While it has always been a ho

Insufficient tabs cost us $8500. Long story short, a tab holds parts in place as they are being cut. Without tabs (or enough of them) parts can break loose when being laser cut and pop up hitting the laser head. The lesson: Don’t be stingy with tabs.

That finish though 🤤 F-150 skid plates crafted out of 10-gauge steel and finished with a textured black powder coat.
Hey F-150 owners— We have a steel option coming soon. Be right back, let us get these bent up and powder coated real quick.

Hi this is Crystal, and before I knew hardly a darn thing about metal fab I would get upset when Shaun couldn’t just add a part into the cut file. Now when I look at how tight his nesting is I understand why he thought I was crazy and why it was never that easy. Whoops.
Nesting is the layout of parts on a sheet of metal — How many parts you fit, how close together they sit, and what gets sacrificed to scrap.
Cutting holes at the laser instead of drilling them later is one of those decisions that doesn’t seem like a big deal until you’ve don’t it both ways. We’ve done it both ways. The laser wins, and not by a small margin.
This duckling had a 28 day delivery, but your skid plates won’t take that long!
