Yesterday, I attended the ribbon cutting for the Falcon Discovery Trails project in Huffman. It was wonderful to meet Zach Casas, the leader behind the project, and his mother and father, as well as several community leaders from Huffman. The Falcon Discovery Trails project will transform an underused natural space into a vibrant outdoor learning environment for students and the community. What began as an idea grew into a powerful collaboration among students, organizations, and local partners working toward a shared vision. Thank you Zach for this beautiful addition to House District 127!

Last week, I toured San Jacinto College’s Generation Park Campus, where they highlighted their Center for Biotechnology and National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training global partnership. We also discussed their performance-based state funding model, the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission, and how workforce providers need to continue working closely with local industry partners. A special thank you to Dr. Brenda Hellyer and the entire team at San Jac for the opportunity to tour.

HHSC Observes Profound Autism Awareness Day | Texas Health and Human Services 03/17/2026

As the grandfather to a grandson that has been diagnosed with autism, one of my priorities serving as an elected official has been to advocate for children with special needs. I am proud to have passed HB 3096 last session, bringing greater awareness to Texas on the importance of improving the quality of life for both parents and their children. If you are a parent of a child with autism or profound autism, do not hesitate to reach out to the Health and Human Services Commission for assistance programs and long-term care. Information can be found in this press release.
