Charles Cunningham for Texas State Representative, District 127

The Texas Sunset Advisory Commission is meeting today at the State Capitol to hear testimony from the Texas Workforce Commission, the Texas Workforce Investment Council, and the Purchasing from People with Disabilities Program.

The work we do here determines if state agencies are operating efficiently and effectively, discussing solutions to any challenges facing these agencies, and potentially abolishing agencies if necessary.

I’m thankful to Speaker Dustin Burrows for appointing me to this important position and look forward to working with my colleagues and Sunset staff as we find ways to improve Texas government operations for all Texans.

On Purple Heart Day, we pay tribute to the courageous men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation. Their bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten, and we remain forever grateful for the freedoms they fought to protect.

Enjoyed visiting the Walden Country Club with Janie Branham, Council Member Fred Flickinger, and SD4 Chairman Shannon Brinkley. The Annual Walden’s Ladies Golf Tournament supports the Humble area High Schools golf teams. Thank you to everyone that played and supported our student athletes!

I am honored to announce that Governor Greg Abbott and Speaker Dustin Burrows will be hosting a fundraising reception in support of my campaign on Wednesday, August 19, from 5:30-7:00 PM. Additional details are incoming, but sponsorships are available today.

I hope you will consider supporting my campaign so that I can continue representing you and our community at the Texas State Capitol. My priorities for House District 127 include property tax reform, continuing flood mitigation measures, and increasing public safety. Keeping Texas the best state to live, work, and raise a family is nonnegotiable.

I enjoyed attending the Commerce Club luncheon yesterday hosted by the Greater Houston Port Bureau. Pictured with me include Coalter Baker, Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Protection District, Captain Matt Glass of the Houston Pilots Association, and Bob Sanders, Executive Vice President of Enterprise Products, who moderated the panel discussion.

My first term in office, I passed in to law HB 1368, designating a portion of FM 1960 in House District 127 as the Deputy Constable Omar Ursin Memorial Highway. It was one of the first bills I filed after being sworn in and the first to be signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott.

I will continue to file and support legislation that aids our law enforcement officers and increases public safety for as long as I am your State Representative.

Thank you to everyone that showed up today - law enforcement officers from the Harris County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, staff from State Senator Ligon’s office, and members of the Ursin family. Deputy Ursin’s life and commitment to public safety and our community will not be forgotten.
