I’ve had several people over the past year ask whether SH 99, the Grand Parkway, is eventually going to come through Manvel.
This updated 2026 TxDOT map gives a much clearer picture of the current planned alignment. Based on the map, the future southern extension would come south of Manvel and more around the FM 1462 corridor area rather than directly through the city itself.
A few additional updates from TxDOT planning documents:
• Segment B-1, which would connect the League City/Alvin area toward Rosharon, is estimated to cost nearly $2 billion and is currently expected to begin construction around 2027 with completion around 2031-2032.
• Segment C, which would continue west from the SH 288 area toward Fort Bend County, has environmental approval but is not yet funded or under construction.
As with any major regional transportation project, timelines and alignments can still evolve over time, but I know many residents have been curious about what the latest plans currently show.
