We had an exceptional day Saturday as many grabbed a great deal on PCs, monitors and printers, as well as other peripherals.
We're going to be doing it one more time on Sunday, 1/14 from 2-5pm. Come out to the Artists on the Bluff facility located at 571 Park Ave. (the old Bluff Park Elementary) and check out what we have. All proceeds go to refurbishing laptops for low-income HOOVER CITY SCHOOLS students.

Learning To Be the Light has refurbished PCs for qualified HOOVER CITY SCHOOLS students since 2011, just like Sebastian, Gabriel (Bluff PkElementarySchool) and Jack (Ira F Simmons MiddleSchool) .
Need a computer for internet and e-mail? Don't want to spend a lot of money? How about $12 for a Ubuntu PC and $12 for a flat screen LCD monitor. $60 for a Windows 7 PC (limited quantities). Or $6 for a printer. $3 for a router.
Saturday 1/13 and Sunday 1/14 from 2pm to 5pm, Learning To Be The Light is liquidating our inventory (we have to move). All money raised will be used to refurbish laptops for low-income HOOVER CITY SCHOOLS students.

In 2011 we started Learning To Be The Light so that all Hoover City Schools students, regardless of family income, could have access to a computer.
This video gives a great example as to why this was, and continues to be, important.

On September 25, 2017 the Hoover Board of Education voted to have all residents of Artists on the Bluff (AOTB) in Bluff Park to vacate the premises by December 31, 2017. Learning To Be The Light (LTBTL) is one of those residents.
In 2011, when the facility first opened, AOTB Director Linda Williams gave us a small area inside the facility in order for us to refurbish computers and give them, along with a monitor, and all necessary peripherals, to Hoover City Schools low-income students. In exchange for this area, LTBTL would maintain the computers and network inside the AOTB facility.
Over the past six years we've refurbished countless computers and they've gone to qualifying HCS students. If the student was a junior or senior in high school, they would also receive a laptop in addition to the PC. Everything given to the student was theirs to keep.
At this time we'll be looking for a new place to do our refurbishing, but in the meanwhile, LTBTL will putting our equipment and those PCs and peripherals meant for students into storage.
We would like to thank AOTB, especially Linda Williams, for supporting LTBTL. Without her, our project couldn't have happened and those students who received PCs wouldn't be on the same level playing field when it comes to technology as their more affluent peers.
We'd also like to thank Hoover City Schools to supporting LTBTL by putting qualifying students in touch with LTBTL. From the beginning HCS has been great.
