Just ran the numbers and it turns out women only represent about a third of our elected positions despite making up 51% of the population.
Let's fix that. It's in Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, and South Carolina.

7,000 people's lives will be affected by the leadership of one person and it appears no one in this Long Island town is up eager for the responsibility. Bayville is a small town that is set to vote for their newest mayor on June 16th. One small issue? No one is running for office.
So what happens? Instead of having a handful of candidates to choose from, voters will head to the polls only to be me with a blank line where they can write in their nomination and whoever ends up with the most votes wins.
What are your thoughts? Have we forgotten the importance of local politics? Why isn't anyone running for office? Why are people running uncontested across the U.S.?

tick tock... time is up! β°
In May of 2025, The Take It Down Act was passed which helps protect people from non-consensual intimate images being posted of them online. This isn't limited to real images either. It also includes AI generated deepfakes which have primarily targeted women (and children).
The bill allowed platforms one year to figure out how they would implement their reporting infrastructure and that clock just ran out.
We've got the full story on our Substack. Learn how you can protect yourself from deepfakes, how to report them, and everything else The Take It Down Act entails.

Honestly, where do we even begin? So much of women's health data has just been extrapolated from the research conducted on male bodies. π©
Why? Well, it seems no one wants to study women because our hormones can skew the data they say. So where does that leave us? Women account for nearly 80% of all autoimmune disease diagnoses π© Men face a higher rate of heart attacks but women face higher fatality rates because of them (that may have something to do with women's symptoms presenting differently but men's symptoms being what are most known). π©
What about the fact that the first menstrual product absorbency tests using real blood didn't happen until 2023? Yeah, that blue dye on the commercials? Turns out it isn't just for advertising. π©
We could go on...
This is why we need more women in leadership. We need women to advocate for our bodies and our healthcare. We need women in office who will fight for legislation that protects us.

Women in STEM (and politics) >>
If you were at our first Rising Voices forum in , you may remember Dr. Jasmine Clark was a panelist discussing young people's political power.
Now, Georgia has another opportunity to make history this election season as Clark is on track to become the very first Black woman Ph.D. scientist in Congress come November.

Gloria Steinem is right. It's time for elected officials (and those hoping to be) to stop treating women's issues as an aside. Women's concerns need to be a top issue, not some back burner item that occasionally gets thrown out during debates for brownie points.

Pope Leo made headlines this week when he released his first major treatise - an Encyclical about AI and the future of humanity. One glaring issue? It totally neglects addressing how AI has been disproportionately harming women.
At AIT, we're mindful of the ways in which AI can both support and harm us if not kept in check.
