When should a runner actually STOP running? This is a common question we get from runners and the honest answer is.. almost never.
Our goal is almost always to keep you running.
We'll modify the intensity. We'll cut the speed work. We'll take hills out of the equation. We'll reduce the mileage. But the goal is to keep you moving.
There is one exception. Stress fractures.
If we suspect a bone stress injury, we stop running. No exceptions. The criteria for everything else might allow for some manageable discomfort but bone stress injuries require zero pain. That's non-negotiable.
Here are some signs that raise the red flag for a stress fracture vs. a muscle or tendon issue:
→ Pain that doesn't warm up and improve during a run
→ Pain at rest or at night
→ Pain that stays the same whether you're running or not
→ Specific, pinpoint tenderness over a bone
Tendons and muscles usually feel stiff at first, loosen up mid-run and get sore afterward if you overdid it. Stress fractures don't follow that pattern.
If you're dealing with something and you're not sure which category it falls into.. that's exactly what we're here to figure out with you!

A patient came in to see us recently convinced she had a hamstring injury.
It felt tight. It hurt. She'd been stretching it for weeks. But the stretching wasn't helping and there's a reason for that.
Sometimes what feels like a tight hamstring isn't actually a hamstring problem at all. It's your body sending a signal that something else needs attention and no amount of stretching is going to fix a signal.
We did a few simple tests, figured out where the problem was actually coming from, and then showed her one thing to do differently.
Her pain dropped 70%.
No hands-on treatment. Just the right information.
That's the difference between treating the symptom and treating the cause.
If you've been stretching something that never seems to get better.. this week’s episode of The Code is worth a listen. 🎧 Linked in the comments below.
What should healthcare actually feel like?
Well, we know what it shouldn't feel like.
It shouldn't feel rushed.
It shouldn't feel transactional.
It shouldn't be built around quotas.
More people are choosing care that values time, attention and outcomes over volume.
Care where you’re listened to. Where your provider isn’t burnt out. Where progress isn’t delayed by a broken system.
Better care is the standard we believe everyone deserves.

Almost everyone gets this wrong. This is why so many people stay in a pain cycle.
Movement > Rest
The goal is NOT to push through pain. It's to find what your body CAN do and do that.
Not sure what that looks like for your specific situation? That's exactly what we figure out together.

Most people quit their fitness routines not because they lack discipline, but because progress is invisible in the short term. We live in a world wired for instant gratification, and when weeks of hard work in the gym produce no visible results, that invisibility is defeating.
If this made you nod your head in agreement.. check out this week's solo episode of The Code with Dr. Andrew Fix.

Reading about your experiences with us means the world. 💙
To those who’ve had PT in the past or for those who associate cookie cutter PT programs with all physical therapy.. we hope this shows you that it doesn’t always have to be like that.
