Thoughts go out to all who are affected by the tragic loss of the eight B-52 crew members at Edwards Air Force Base today, particularly their families and friends. Clear skies and tailwinds, Airmen...

Hard to believe it's already been a week since the sundown of the U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier at MCAS Cherry Point, ending a career of over 40 years of service to the Marines. The Bulldogs of VMA-223 were the final marine squadron flying the famed "Jump Jet," and welcomed thousands of people over two days to an open house, a four ship community flyover, and official sundown ceremony.

The ceremony was witnessed by over 5,000 people who were on hand, including top Marine and public officials, and featured a four and five ship flyover, several flybys, a synchronized final hover and touch down with all five jets, water cannon salute, synchronized five jet final engine shutdown, and wet down of the pilots by their maintainers and families. It was an absolute honor to be able to take part in such a historic, yet bittersweet day. Best of luck to all of the pilots, maintainers, support crews, and their families as they move on to the next chapter of their lives!

A shot I'll treasure forever...

The has always been a favorite aircraft of mine since I was five or six years old. Unfortunately, I never had many chances to see them, let alone see them fly, during their long career flying for the U.S. Marine Corps. Having the opportunity to see five fly in formation, then being able to get a shot like this (and more) afterwards was incredible, even if it was at their ceremony ahead of their retirement. Truly an awesome, yet sad day. ,

Today, we honor and salute the tens of thousands of brave men who jumped, landed, flew, and sailed into the areas surrounding , France during the invasion; the largest invasion force ever assembled, which gave the allies the foothold they desperately needed to take back occupied Europe and save the free world. Thank you all for your sacrifices to ensure the freedoms we have today.
