His presence, integrity, and care for both members and staff will be deeply missed. Wishing you all the best on your next adventure, Mike, and always, protect the cone.

We’re proud to celebrate our very own Adam Valdez, named the UGCSA Equipment Manager of the Year 2025! 👏
Adam has been part of Alpine since 2003, working his way from Equipment Operator to Head Mechanic. His expertise, dedication, and attention to detail keep our course in top condition every day.
Congrats, Adam—this recognition is so well deserved!
Part 2 of our seeding series! After prepping in Part 1, it was time to bring the new greens to life:
1. Fertilizer was applied to give the turf a strong, healthy foundation.
2. We seeded with 007XL Bentgrass, chosen for its fine texture, high turf density, and medium-dark green color — all of which provide excellent putting quality and visual appeal. It also thrives in cool-season climates and has great recovery power.
3. Cores from our current greens were spread across the new greens with a topdresser, helping establish consistency.
4. Finally, we “dimpled” the surface by driving over it with knobby tires — pressing the seed and cores evenly into the soil for consistent growth and grass type throughout the greens.
Every detail is designed to set the stage for smooth, healthy, and beautiful putting surfaces for years to come. Stay tuned for Part 3 where we hydroseed the tees and fairways 🌱
Part 1 of our seeding series! We started by aerifying the current greens using ¼-inch tines. This process pulls small cores from the turf, which helps relieve compaction, promotes oxygen flow, and encourages new growth—keeping our greens rolling smooth.
Those plugs were then collected and will be spread across the new greens to jump-start growth and maintain consistency in our new greens.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll share how these cores are being used to help seed the new greens!
