This doesn't look like much of a job, but it was a little tricky coping the posts around the slab.

This is one of the most unique jobs we've ever done. This house was only about 2 years old. It was built over an old creek in this area where the builders cleared out a large swath of land.
The basement floor was pushing up the hole house. It would swell at times and then relax. It cracked the ceramic tile floors and walls on the first and second floors due to the finished basement walls being attached to the basement floor and rafters of the of the first floor, as is typical. The foundation company drove piers down about 200' to bedrock.
Our solution was to cut about 2" from the wall studs on the finished interior walls to allow the basement floor to continue to move but not affect the rest of the house. This obviously would make the interior walls unstable and very ugly from the finished side. So we created a bracket that attached to the sill plate and studs, but had a slot on the stud side that secured the wall but allowed the wall to slide up and down as needed. On the finished sides we installed a solid crown molding that was only attached to the ceilings. This covered up the 2" gap allowing the wall to slide up and down behind it.
It took a lot of collaboration between us, the foundation company and the home owners to come up with a solution that solved the problem and looked good.

At least once or twice a year you should have your dryer vent cleaned out.
