High Point Speedway
Started in 1939 - first stock car race in 1940, built by the Baity Brothers from Yadkinville, NC. Three races were held before track closed due to WWII.
Construction of the one mile High Point Speedway was started in 1939 by the Baity Brothers from Yadkinville, NC. Track was completed in six months and the first stock car race was held in 1940. There were three stock car races and one Indy car style race held there before the track was shut down due to the start of WWII. The track was sold at auction to D. Hedgecock of High Point for $9,000.
