Update on our *Special Boxerā¦
Two weeks ago SB had a splenectomy. We got the pathology report back a couple days ago, and it was certainly not what we wanted to hear.
The mass came back and itās Hemangiosarcoma (HSA). It is a highly malignant cancer of blood vessels, most commonly affecting the spleen or heart.
As of now, the lungs are clear and no other masses were seen on any other organs. We will continue to monitor SB and keep a close eye out for any signs as things progress.
SB will be on medication, and a few holistic meds also (Yunnan and Turkey Tail Mushrooms).
Foster mom has started cooking meals, high protein and appropriate vegetables along with no/low carbs or sugar.
If you have any experience with HSA, and would like to share what you did, please leave a comment, because foster mom would love to read about your experiences.
Please keep this SB in your thoughts, and letās hope for defying the odds!

Update on our *Special Boxer (full story on our page)
After the emergency spleen surgery, *SB is doing well. It took several days for *SB to even remotely feel like trying to move, but is now definitely feeling better. *SB will be going back to the vet for removal of the stitches next week. *SB has been through so much, but continues to be so loving. We will continue to update as we can.
We felt the need to do a different kind of post tonight, and itās a long one, so please bear with us.
As you know, the rescue world can be a different kind of world ābehind the scenesā.
There are times when we are called on for help in cases that cannot be fully shared with the public to make sure the dog is protected. BRBR is handling one of those cases currently. With that, you never know what youāre going to be dealing with.
We welcomed a very special boxer into the rescue a couple weeks ago, and things were going great until they werenāt.
Our special boxer had to have emergency spleen removal surgery this morning. Special Boxers abdomen was full of blood because of a mass that ruptured.
We are so thankful that the chest X-rays are clear, and no other masses were found on any other organs!
This was an unexpected medical case, and this is where you come in. If you feel moved to help with the medical bills for our special boxer, you can go to our website, click on the Donation button and choose from Pay Pal, Zelle, and Venmo for donating to the care of this little one. We know there will be many questions about what happened, and we can only give very limited information.
1.) Special Boxer is very sweet.
2.) Housebroken and crate trained.
3.) Special Boxer will not be on any social media.
4.) Special Boxer was taken out of a horrific situation ~ think drugs, abuse, outside living~ but thatās all in the past!
5.) Special Boxer has adjusted remarkably well to sofa sleeping and yummy treatsš§”.
6.) Special Boxer is resting and recovering with the foster family.
We will have more information as that progresses.
7.) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments, and we will answer to the best of our ability. Thank you for your patience and support š¾
Heās got hopsš¤·š»āāļø Tyson is still looking for his forever home. He is a great boy, but you must have an understanding of the bully breed to fully appreciate him. He is friendly, crate trained, housebroken, and has a very typical American Bully personality.

Congratulations š to Hank on getting adopted!
What do yāall think?! Leo is pretty impressive. 1. Someone clearly invested a significant amount of time in this handsome boy at some point earlier in his life. He is 100% potty trained (not a SINGLE accident since heās been with us) and knows several commands - Sit, Down, Shake, Speak (who teaches a dog to bark at them?!) and he selectively responds to Come.
2. Leo loves to be near his people.
3. Leo loves to lay in the sun.
4. Leo loves to go for walks and is decent on leash.
5. Leo loves car rides and either sits looking out the back window or calmly lays down for the entire ride.
6. Leo loves the vet - in fact, he smothered our vet with kisses while she was examining him.
7. Leo will do best in a home without other dogs and/or with a strong, committed leader who will set up Leo for success.

Please welcome LEO to the rescue! We picked up this sweet, skinny guy yesterday. He is estimated to be 7 years old and HW negativeš! He was neutered this past week and will now work on gaining some much needed weight. Leo is a big and tall boy. He is currently just under 70 lbs - guesstimating heāll be 85-90 at optimal weight. He put forth his best effort to break out of the crate when we left for 5 minutes yesterday, hence the new scratch you see under his left eye in some of the pics. Weāre making great progress in that area today. He is doing pretty well with our 2 resident males, but we are of course taking it slow and easy with them.
More to come as he gets settled and we learn more about him.
