Handcrafted BBQ Pits and Smokers since 1993 Helotes Pits was founded in 1993 by Raul Morales as Quality Pits & Smokers.
The name was eventually changed to Gavin Steel to include small jobs until it became a full service fabrication shop. With the reestablishment of Helotes Pits the company was able to return to one of its roots. We live, work, and build our pits in the Texas Hill country! The Pits are a labor of love and source of pride for Raul. A recent renewed interest in outdoor grilling and smoking has led to
boom in pit sales and we’ve seen that part of the business grow rapidly. The Helotes Pits products are now owned and used by civic organizations, caterers, BBQ restaurants, and professional competition cooking teams. We also use our pits to cook for family, friends, and our own employees so we understand the importance of a well-built pit. Beginners to Pro’s appreciate the consistent performance and delicious results! Built by skilled craftsmen in steel, these pits are each unique expressions of the metal-crafters art. The pits offer the build, craftsmanship, performance, longevity, durability, and simplicity that cannot be found in the mass produced products in the market today. Helotes Pits are available in a variety of trailer sizes and barrel diameters for those that need to take their pit with them! The trailer platform for the pits are built to spec for Helotes Trailers by MC Mfg. Helotes Pits completes the work of installing the pits with firebox and smoke closet, wood storage baskets, and then applying the final coat of black high heat paint.
