🦴 Meet Buppy, one of this year’s 31 Skulls artists 🦴
BUPPY is one of the local artists bringing Cast the Bones October to life! Come see their piece in person this Friday, October 2nd, and ask them about their intrusive thoughts associated with their skull design.
The piece is called Intrusive Thots, and it comes from a real place. BUPPY expressed living with obsessive and automatic negative thinking, and poured that energy into a piece that makes those feeling lighter.

31 Skulls doesn’t build itself! 💀 We’re creating a one-of-a-kind immersive art experience this October, and you’re invited to help.
We need 12–15 volunteers to help bring Cast the Bones October to life at Big Arts. Come meet the community. Every set of hands helps. 🦴
🛠️ Jobs include:
🪜 Drapery cutting & hanging (2): must be confident on a ladder
🥂 Goblet prep (2): washing, sticker peeling and prepping 160 goblets
👜 Tote heat presser (2): must be confident with high-heat pressing
🎁 Goodie-bag stuffers & battery changer (2)
🎨 Mural brand painter, blacklight gallery (4)
🕯️ Candle holder maker, air dry clay (2)

🎨 Every piece in this collection was made by an artist with lived experience of homelessness or incarceration, and each one has something powerful to say.
Now it’s your chance to add one to your collection and support these artists directly. 💜
This work comes from Answering the Call: Bridging Communities, Systems, and Policy, an annual conference held with the National Coalition for the Homeless (National Coalition For the Homeless) and Destination: Home (Destination: Home). The conference brings together people with lived experience, activists, and leaders from across the country for three days of connection, learning, and leadership development. It’s led by the people most impacted, from the logistics to the session themes.
These are leaders who are often unseen. Now they’re impossible to ignore.
Local Color is proud to host this benefit sale and bring these artists’ work to a wider audience. Every purchase supports the artists directly AND the larger movement they’re part of.

🦴 Meet Kevin Combs, one of this year’s 31 Skulls artists 🦴
Kevin Combs (aka combsy) is one of the local artists bringing Cast the Bones October to life. Come see his piece in person this Friday, October 2nd wrapped in copper wire and unlike anything else in this year’s collection. Touch the wires and it responds, each one tuned to its own frequency.
Combsy calls it Wired for Eternity, a reflection of our constant search for connection, and how the more wires our communication crosses, the more room there is for error and misunderstanding. True connection, he says, comes when we communicate directly and stay grounded in reality.
