Eden Area ROP offers over 135 career-preparation courses in the areas of Business, Health, Home Economics, and Industrial Technology at the ROP Hayward Center and throughout the various school sites in Castro Valley, Hayward, San Leandro, and San Lorenzo Unified School Districts. Many ROP courses have been articulated with Chabot Community College District, awarding college credit to ROP students achieving articulation standards. Upon successful completion of an ROP course, students receive a Certificate of Completion indicating occupational and work behavior skills demonstrated by the student. Experience is the greatest teacher. ROP gives students the hands-on experience needed to get and keep a job. In our ROP classes you will learn new skills, train for a new career, or build on your current skills. Many students continue their education to advance their career. And…ROP skills pay college bills.

Now THAT was a Back 2 School Night! 📚✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Tuesday! From the moment families started arriving, our campus was buzzing! Classrooms were full, music was playing, people were singing and dancing, and everywhere you looked, our students proudly showed their families a glimpse into their day-to-day here at Eden Area ROP. 🩺 🦷 👮‍♂️ 🚒 🍳 🎨 💻 ⚙️ 🚧 🔩🦺 🚗 ⚡ 🔧

Our instructors welcomed families into their classrooms, shared what their students have been learning, and gave them a firsthand look at the skills, projects, and experiences that make our programs so unique. Meanwhile, our Ambassadors were all over campus welcoming families, helping them find their way, and making sure everyone got where they needed to go.

But what made the night was seeing our families here. 💙💚 Parents, siblings, grandparents, and loved ones walking through campus, asking questions, meeting instructors, and getting to see where their students spend part of their school day.

The campus was PACKED. The energy was THERE. And our EAROP community showed OUT!

Thank you to every student, family member, instructor, staff member, and Ambassador who helped make the evening what it was. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Until next year, Back 2 School Night! 🌟

On May 1st, Eden Area ROP proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Career Expo, welcoming over 30 industry professionals and community partners to campus to engage with students through networking opportunities and mock interviews. 💼✨

This year’s Career Expo was held during Workforce Readiness Week, newly established in California through Education Code 49110.5 following the passage of Assembly Bill 800 (Ortega) in 2024. Throughout the week, students participated in activities and campus-wide initiatives focused on workplace readiness, professional skills, and understanding employee rights through our Teen Know Your Rights Week campaign.

As part of the week’s programming, students explored topics such as fair pay, workplace safety, breaks, sick leave, and labor protections, while also participating in our fun and engaging “Did You Know? 👀 – Staff First Job Edition 💼✨” daily announcements, where staff shared stories about their very first jobs and lessons learned along the way.

The Career Expo served as the culminating event of the week, giving students the opportunity to practice interview skills, build confidence, and connect directly with professionals across multiple industries.

We are incredibly grateful to all of the partners who showed up to support our students, including representatives from the Hayward Fire Department, Falck, DC16, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, Torani, Hayward Executive Airport, Amazon, ComForCare, and many more.

Thank you to our students, staff, ambassadors, instructors, and Work-Based Learning team for helping make this event a meaningful and successful experience for our entire campus community. 🙌

We are incredibly proud of Jeffery and all he represents — leadership, service, and a dedication to making a difference. 🌟

🧬✨ Huge thank you to our incredible guest panelists for inspiring the Biomedical Pathway students at Hayward High!

We appreciate Mykel Jensen-Vallar (UCSF), Marinita Santos (H.A.R.D.), and Gary Howard (retired scientific writer & editor) for sharing your experiences, insights, and career journeys.
