Mr. Bryan, Ms Jen, and Ms Cathy returned to Pasadena Elementary School to visit with the 5th grade.

We shared the 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 program with the students, that was related to their "Eco-Advocates" unit they are studying related to environmental issues. They learned how certain materials are made, what items can be recycled, and even conducted their own student led data analysis of types of trash at a local "beach".

The students are now preparing stop animation videos related to the program and the unit they studied. We can't wait to see and hear how it goes.

𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒔 𝑴𝒓. 𝑷𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 5𝒕𝒉 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒂 𝑬𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚!

Ms. Jen made her annual visit to present "Curious Crabs" to the PreK classes at Holabird Academy in Baltimore. They were so eager and excited to learn all about crabs. The students loved hearing a story, scuttling like crabs, singing a song about how crabs molt and seeing and touching live crabs. These bright kiddos even shared what they can do to protect where blue crabs live: "Put your trash in a trash can, don't throw it on the ground!" We can all make a difference, even if you're 4 years old! Thanks Dr. Chisholm and Holabird for having us back year after year!

For the September Harvest moon, Mr. Bryan took a group of paddlers out to experience a night on Back Creek. We were lucky to be joined by a local health and wellness group of women called The Umoya Well who wanted to learn more about the holistic qualities of a full moon paddle!

We had a great time discussing not only moon mythology but also some interesting science related to our Chesapeake Bay. The cloudy and windy conditions from the night before were gone, allowing for a great evening.

We enjoyed a terrific moonrise and great paddle in the moonlight. Thank you, Kevin, and the Capital SUP staff!

Mr. Bryan visited the Catonsville Library in Baltimore County for a fall series we are doing across multiple Baltimore County Public Libraries.

The program "Outstanding Oysters," was a fun to share with Catonsville. Both the parents and children were very engaged and asked interesting questions related to oysters in our Chesapeake Bay region. Participants also got to see several oyster artifacts, oyster lifecycle shells and even had the opportunity to see and touch a live oyster!

Mr. Bryan visited Parkville Library in Baltimore county for a fall series we are doing at multiple Baltimore County Public Libraries.

This program presentation was our Outstanding Oysters and it was a great visit to Parkville. Both parents and children were very engaged and asked interesting questions related to oysters in our Chesapeake Bay region.

Mr. Bryan led a group on Back Creek for the August full moon paddle at Capital SUP, known as the Sturgeon Moon.

The Sturgeon Moon name comes from the abundance of this fish in the Great Lakes region during August. Although we didn't see any sturgeon we did see some great egrets in a shallow cove! We had a very fortunate night; the predicted storms stayed far north. Although there was a fair amount of cloud cover we had about a 10 minute window after the moonrise to catch a glimpse of the Sturgeon Moon! Thank you to Capital SUP for the partnership with this event.

July FULL MOON Paddle! Mr. Bryan took a group of paddlers out to experience a night on Back Creek.

It was a cloudy night that obstructed our initial moonrise view, but we had some great close encounters with our feathered friends. We saw at very close range a black crowned night heron sitting on a piling, and up on top of a mast an osprey drying its wings after some "free diving" for fish for dinner!

We had a great time discussing not only moon mythology but also some interesting science related to our Chesapeake Bay. Although the moonrise was cloudy from the water we did see the moon once we got back to shore.

Mr. Bryan returned to Back Creek in Eastport for the June Full Moon Paddle with Capital SUP in Annapolis.

We had nice weather and a good turnout even though we had to postpone one day due to clouds and rain the evening before. The paddlers learned a lot about the local environment and birds including a close encounter with a great blue heron fishing! We hope to you all at the end of July for our next FMP with Capital SUP on Tuesday, July 28 in the heart of Eastport!
