Nobody ever warns you that one of burnout’s favorite targets is other people’s joy.

It waits until a person you love walks in with good news, or a stranger posts something hopeful, or a coworker gets excited about a project that hasn’t disappointed them yet — and it whispers that their excitement is the problem.

That they just don’t know better. That you’d be doing them a favor by handing them your fatigue early, before life does it for them.

I’ve caught myself mid-whisper more times than I’d like to admit.

But every time I let exhaustion speak for me instead of processing it honestly, I handed it one more person’s joy to dim. And burnout doesn’t stop once it’s fed. It just goes looking for another light to dim.

So today, if you feel the urge to dim someone else’e excitement, pause before you speak, and remind yourself that they get to have experiences that exist outside of the feelings that you’re working through.

Ik you looking Ugly today come get your hair done 😘😁
