More than 150 middle school and high school students from Butler, Hamilton, and Warren counties explored the technology and careers shaping modern manufacturing during national Manufacturing Day on Friday, Oct. 2, at the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce and Innovation Hub at Miami University Polytechnic in Hamilton. The event was presented through a partnership of Butler Tech, Miami Polytechnic, and regional workforce and industry partners.

Manufacturing Day brings together more than 15 industry partners, including Festo, Johnson & Johnson, and Yaskawa, along with event organizers Butler Tech, Miami Polytechnic, and Butler County’s OhioMeansJobs, SW Career Pathway Support Network, EasterSeals Career Connection, and Advanced Manufacturing Industry Partnership.

"The walk was a fundraiser to raise funds for awareness and prevention of su***de amongst veterans."

More than 50 people braved the weather earlier in September for the first ever Hamilton Warrior Walk. The proceeds and raised funds benefit Save A Warrior to support their mission preventing su***de among military veterans, active-duty military, and first responders.

September is Su***de Awareness Month, including Veterans Su***de Awareness Month. But it's a cause that is worth talking about all 12 months out of the year.

After a successful first time event, organizers plan to make this a yearly event, hopefully continue to grow the numbers each year, and driving more awareness of such an important cause.
