$650,000 new construction inspection today. Many times I hear people say they dont need an inspection because it's a new construction. The builder's inspector was leaving as I was getting there. None of the items below were mentioned in the builders report.
1) Beer bottles in the sump pit. One of the bottles was blocking the float switch from working.
2) Corrugated stainless steel gas lines (CSST) not properly bonded.
3) Oh yeah...and the leaking water line from the dishwasher that leaked into the basement......

Found a major gas leak inside a home in yesterday afternoon's inspection. Duke had to come out and not only shut it down at the meter, but at the street as well. The Duke tech said it was lucky that I carry and use a combustible gas detector on inspections. He said you would be surprised how many inspectors do not! My clients and their family's safety is top of mind on EVERY inspection.
