Nobody talks about the drive home.

The baby is safe.

Mom is safe.

The decisions were right.

Everyone is where they need to be.

And then you get in your car.

The adrenaline starts to wear off.

The responsibility you’ve been carrying all night finally has somewhere to go.

You sit in your driveway for a bit longer than usual before you walk into your house.

And suddenly your body realizes it’s over.

People see the birth.

Nobody talks about the drive home.

The trust families place in me is something I never take lightly. 💛

Safe home birth isn’t about pretending nothing unexpected can happen. It’s about having experienced, supportive care when birth requires calm decision-making.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that home birth means ignoring risk or avoiding responsible care.

Actually, the opposite is true.

Safe midwifery care requires ongoing assessment, honest education, preparation, and clear decision-making.

Part of serving families well means recognizing when birth is unfolding normally and when more medical care is needed that cannot be provided at home.

Home birth isn’t about avoiding responsibility. It’s about intentional, informed care.

A little behind the scenes of the last 2 months.

While I’ve been off-call for the last 2 months, I’ve been busy refreshing my skills with breech births and getting re-certified in neonatal resuscitation and CPR.

I’m always learning and refreshing on these vitals skills so I can be the best midwife for my community.

Now I’m gearing up for a busy summer with lots of babies 🫶🏻

Over the past 2 years, my practice has grown beyond what the name “Little Hands Midwifery” once held.

As my scope of care has expanded to support families from preconception through birth and beyond, it felt time for a name that reflects that evolution.

I’m grateful for where Little Hands began — and I’m excited to step forward as Aligned Birth Midwifery.

I’m grateful to have served 20 families in 2025 + assisted many other births with other local midwives.

I will be taking some time off in 2026, but still have some spots for fall & late summer babies.
